The programme, financed by the European Commission, discovers, supports and funds innovative projects in the robotics industry.
Ferrovial Services is taking part in RobotUnion, a programme for acceleration of innovative robotics projects. The initiative, funded by the European Commission within the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Programme, will select 20 start-ups to develop projects in the field of robotics linked to the agri-food, health, civil engineering and manufacturing industries.
The 20 start-ups and SMEs selected in the first edition of RobotUnion will embark on a 6- to 12-month acceleration process. For the first time, participants will be mentored throughout the entire process, from the research stage to the setting up of the business. During this step, Ferrovial Services, as a benchmark company in the services sector, will have continuous communication with these new entrepreneurs to provide support and advice for the development and acceleration of their projects.
Each of the selected companies will receive up to 223,000 Euros equity free for the initial funding stages, as well as access to technological support from European robotics experts and business acceleration services. The companies with the best results may access up to one million Euros in additional private investment through funding cycles led by venture capital funds Chrysalix and Odense Seed and Venture, with the support of Blumorpho.
RobotUnion aims to address the two main barriers that hinder development and market uptake of robotics technologies, namely high installation costs and lack of knowledge regarding the huge potential of robotics for entrepreneurs and start-ups.
