Ferrovial Servicios will perform cleaning and waste collection services in Mercabilbao
Ferrovial Servicios (Ferroser), the Ferrovial Group company devoted to urban services management, mainly integrated water management, street cleaning and solid urban waste collection, has been awarded the cleaning and solid waste collection concession of Mercabilbao, Basuri, Vizcaya. The contract totals Pta 375 million and the concession will last five years.
This contract is the first to take place between Ferrovial Servicios and the Bilbao Town Council, main shareholder of Mercabilbao, and strengthens the companys presence in the province of Vizcaya. In fact, Ferroser performs street cleaning and solid urban waste collection services in the towns of Basauri and Barakaldo. These contracts total Pta 5.3 billion and serve a population of more than 160,000 inhabitants.
The offer of Ferrovial Servicios was technically and economically the best among those presented. Until now, cleaning and waste collection services in Mercabilbao were performed by Cespa.
Ferroser holds the concession of street cleaning and solid urban waste collection services in another 43 municipalities, including La Coruña, Hellín, Níjar, etc., serving more than 670,000 inhabitants.
