As part of its corporate social responsibility policy, Ferrovial Services' Portuguese subsidiary has joined in two solidarity initiatives in Tondela, Portugal, to support Cooperativa Vários and the Tourigo Social Centre.
The Vários social cooperative supports people with disabilities in the transition to work. Ferrovial Serviços collaborates with the cooperative at the Planalto Beirão waste treatment plant, where it employs disabled members. The company has also helped improve conditions at the Vários cooperative's facilities. A group of employees from the Planalto Beirão plant volunteered to paint the social centre. Over four weekends, the centre was repainted in paler, calmer colours, which met with a very favourable reception from the Vários management and patients.
Ferrovial Serviços also helped the Tourigo Social Centre, which primarily cares for the elderly. The Portuguese subsidiary donated a lockable medicine cabinet, something the centre had needed urgently for quite some time. Since then, all the medicines have been safely locked away.
