Speaking at the inauguration, John Hagan, CEO of the concession company, said: “I am proud to be able to deliver this infrastructure, which the region has been eagerly awaiting, and I hope to be able to repeat the feat in 2019 by inaugurating the entire road and celebrating it with the local community.”
Ignacio Clopes, International Director Area 2 of Ferrovial Agroman said “We are delighted to be delivering the bypass in partnership with both Cintra and Broadspectrum. The project represents Ferrovial’s commitment to delivering sustainable infrastructure in Queensland and supporting Toowoomba’s ambitions of becoming Australia’s most innovative and productive rural city.”
Michael McCormack, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development, said: “Completion of the work is fantastic news for residents and visitors in the Toowoomba and Lockyer Valley regions.”
Construction of this newly-inaugurated section of road involved moving 12.6 million cubic meters of earth, pouring 60,000 cubic meters of concrete, installing over 500 deck units, and building an emblematic 800-meter viaduct.
