The urban innovation project Madrid Smart Parking has been launched today by Ferrovial Services in collaboration with Madrid City Council. It aims to improve drivers' experience in Las Tablas with innovative mobility management, combining new technology and support to urban entrepreneurs.
Madrid Smart Parking is a pilot project that involves a digital parking solution developed by Spanish start-up Apparcar. The project will initially last three months and will be deployed gradually in the Vía Norte business park area, where Ferrovial Services' offices are located, until 300 spaces are covered approximately.
These parking spaces – which have red lines, numbers and signs – will continue to be free for everyone.
Book your parking space with just one click
The solution is based on a system that enables users to book a space using the mobile app Apparcar (
http://www.apparcar.com), which is available on Apple Store and Play Store. Once the user has booked a space on the app, the GPS system on the user's mobile locates the best space available and the app guides the user towards it. The booking should be made within a range of five kilometres from the marked area.
The booking system will be available Monday to Friday, from 7 am to 3 pm. Outside this time frame, users can park in the area without booking.

Madrid Smart Parking is a project managed by
Ferrovial Services Centre of Excellence for Cities and is part of the Urban Innovation Programme 2015 run by Ferrovial Services Spain. It is a joint project, with three participants: Ferrovial Services (digital mobility know-how, collaboration with entrepreneurs), Madrid City Council (mobility improvement in Las Tablas) and an entrepreneur (application of the solution). It aims to improve citizens' quality of life through innovation.
