Ontario's Minister of Transportation announces the upcoming opening of part of the 407 East Phase 2 highway

407 East Phase 2

On the 8th of December, Steven del Duca, Ontario’s Minister of Transportation, announced the upcoming opening of part of the second phase of the 407 East Extension highway. The event was attended for Cintra by Andrés Sacristán, Director of Canada, and David García Santolalla, CEO of the highway, and for Ferrovial Agroman by Carlos Planelles , Director of Canada, and Gabriel Medel, Design and Build Director of the project.

In addition, other members of the local administration were present, including Granville Anderson, a member of the Durham provincial parliament and Jeff Leal, a member of the Peterborough provincial parliament, as well as Adrian Foster, mayor of Clarington.

This new section of the 407 EE starts at Harmony Road (Oshawa) and runs for about 8 kilometres to Taunton Road (Clarington). The route includes an interchange at Enfield Road and a partial interchange at Taunton, with the final opening scheduled for early January 2018.

The remainder of the project, which includes approximately 14 km to the east and another 10 km of the north-south connection, is expected to be completed by the end of 2019.
