The new Allerton Waste Recovery Park will reduce waste from landfills in North Yorkshire by 90%

Amey, the British subsidiary of Ferrovial Services, has recently started work on the Allerton Waste Recovery Park, located in the North East of the UK. The ceremony marking the laying of the facility’s first stone was attended by Mel Ewell, Chief Executive Officer of Amey, and the team from the Environment Competence Center of Ferrovial Services and Amey in charge of this project, as well as the institutions involved in the project.

The project includes the construction of one of the largest recycling plants in Europe and is the result of joint work between Amey and North Yorkshire County Council and City of York Council.

The new facility, expected to completed by 2018, will reduce the amount of waste going to landfill in North Yorkshire by 90%, in addition to generating enough energy to power 40,000 homes in the area.

As well as creating hundreds of jobs, we are also committed to recruiting and training apprentices to fill our operational roles to ensure we are creating a positive legacy and boosting the economy in Yorkshire.”
