- Contracts include the rebuild of IH 10’s main lanes and frontage roads as well as construction and renovation works for two Central Texas school districts.
Webber, Ferrovial Agroman’s construction subsidiary in the United States, has been awarded three contracts in Texas, including the construction of two new schools and a parking lot in Pflugerville Independent School District, the renovation of the existing Miller Middle School, as well as demolition and construction of 11 kilometers of IH 10 between Sealy and the San Bernard River. The total value of the contracts is $255 million.
Firstly, Texas Department of Transportation has selected Webber to rebuild 11 kilometers of the IH 10 main lanes and frontage roads between Sealy and the San Bernard River. The works includes the construction of 11 bridges, nearly 450,000 square meters of concrete paving and 420,000 square meters of embankment.
The new project ties into Webber’s current IH 10 project in Austin County that consists of a 16-kilometer work zone that begins just west of FM 3538 and runs east of the Brazos River. This was the largest hard bid project awarded in Webber’s history at the time. Both contracts are part of improvements Texas Department of Transportation has planned for IH 10.
Secondly, the Pflugerville Independent School District has also selected Webber as constructor to build a new 650,000 square meter middle school with a new track and field/football stadium, classrooms, science labs, collaboration spaces, a library, administration area, two gymnasiums and a cafeteria.
The Pflugerville ISD project also comprises construction of a new elementary school, creating an overall space of 378,000 square meter. It is expected to be completed by July 2021.
Finally, Webber was awarded a renovations project by San Marcos Independent School District for Miller Middle School. The scope of work includes the partial demolition of present structures, interior renovation of prevailing buildings and partial re-roof.
