We were distinguished at the 2013 Seres Awards for Innovation and Social Commitment, which recognise action by companies, as part of their business strategy, to improve society and reduce the gap with disadvantaged groups.
At the award ceremony, held at Casa de América in Madrid, SERES Foundation chairman Juan Arena highlighted the important role companies should play in bettering society by constantly creating shared value. Ferrovial's CEO, Íñigo Meirás, accepted the award on behalf of the company.
Social Infrastructure
The award was granted in particular for "Social Infrastructure", our corporate responsibility programme. Under this initiative, we contribute not only funds but also technical assistance, technology and expertise in project development, involving the company transversally in a strategic community outreach programme. To date, the Social Infrastructure programme has benefited more than 294,000 people, built over 300 infrastructures, trained 2,000 people in infrastructure management, and involved 58 employee volunteers.
