ZITY, the carsharing scheme managed by Ferrovial Services and Renault, has received the Entrepreneurship and Research Award in the 23rd edition of the Internet Day Awards, for its contribution to the field of clean energy. The panel selected ZITY following a popular vote in which it was up against companies WePower and E-LIG-E in the same category.
This award comes in recognition of ZITY’s efforts to provide smart solutions to the mobility problems facing citizens in Madrid. Javier Mateos, Chief Executive of ZITY, received the award from El Corte Inglés, one of the participating companies. “I want to thank our 85,000 ZITYCENS for choosing us. I am proud of the fact that we move around Madrid while caring for the planet and building a greener city with ZITY, the carsharing scheme run by Renault y Ferrovial Services. We will continue to work on developing sustainable mobility solutions to improve Madrid. Thank you!” said Javier Mateos in his speech.
In this 23rd edition of the awards, organised by the Committee for the Promotion of Internet Day, 299 nominations were submitted in 20 categories, receiving a total of 40,000 online votes.
The awards ceremony is one of the main events of World Internet Day held on 17 May, and brings together the best in Digital Strategy, Online communications campaigns, Research and Entrepreneurship and Personal Brand on Social Media in the Spanish-speaking internet world. The awards aim to recognise initiatives, people and organisations who have made a significant contribution in the preceding year to the promotion, innovation and/or facilitation of Internet use and new technologies in their respective categories. Since 1996, the Internet Awards are granted each year in May to celebrate World Day of the Information Society, popularly known as World Internet Day.
