Budimex is awarded two contracts in Poland worth over 80 million euro

Budimex, Ferrovial Agroman’s subsidiary in Poland, has been awarded contracts to build the new Silesian Museum building in Katowice (42 million euro) and a hospital in Wroc³aw (over 40 million euro). The construction backlog in Poland amounted to 1.764 billion euro at the end of the first quarter of 2011.

Madrid, July 20, 2011 – Through Ferrovial Agroman subsidiary Budimex, Ferrovial has clinched two new construction contracts in Poland: the new Silesian Museum building in Katowice and a regional hospital in Wroclaw, both in southern Poland.

Silesian Museum

The contract to build the new Silesian Museum building is worth over 42 million euro. Construction is expected to take 21 months from the date of signature of the contract and the building is expected to open in May 2013.

The building will comprise three sections: an exhibition area over three stories, two underground and one above ground, with glass-lined shafts to channel sunlight to the underground areas; offices and a conference area over seven stories, three underground and four above ground; and a three-story underground car park.

Wroclaw Hospital

Budimex also signed a contract to build a new regional hospital in Wroc³aw for more than 40 million euro. This contract includes development of the surrounding area and construction of a heliport.

Operations in Poland

In the first quarter of 2011, Budimex obtained revenues of 180.8 million euro from construction activities, a 66% increase compared with the same period last year. Its backlog amounted to 1.764 billion euro. In the same period, Ferrovial Agroman obtained revenues of 889 million euro and had an international backlog of 6.652 billion euro.

Budimex’s main contracts in Poland include construction of a section of the S17 highway in Lublin, the bridge over the Vistula river at Kwidzyn, several sections of the A2, A1 and A4 highways, and the renovation of the Wroc³aw railway station.
