Ferrovial Services, through subsidiary Amey, has been chosen by Welsh Water to maintain water infrastructure in South Wales for a period of up to six years. This contract comes in addition to the award, announced last Thursday by England’s Highways Agency, of a contract worth 200 million pounds (approximately 234 million euro) to manage 965 km of roads for five years.
Ferrovial, through Amey, a UK subsidiary of Ferrovial Services, has been chosen by Welsh Water to maintain the network of clean water pipes in South Wales. The contract is worth 18 million pounds (about 21 million euro) per year and will run for six years from inception, which is scheduled for October 2013.
Amey will handle repair and maintenance of approximately 20,000 kilometers of drinking water mains, plus new connections and meter installation, in the counties of Pembrokeshire, Ceredigion, Herefordshire and Glamorgan, in South Wales.
Ferrovial Services has obtained several major contracts in the UK recently.
England’s Highways Agency recently chose Amey to manage and maintain approximately 965 km. of roads in East Anglia. Under the five-year contract, which is worth 200 million pounds (approximately 234 million euro), Amey will upgrade and maintain the highways in Area 6, which encompasses Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex and part of Cambridgeshire.
