Press Release

Broadspectrum, in partnership with MTC, is to manage the Parklea Correctional Centre in Australia under a €57 million per year contract

  • Broadspectrum and MTC will maintain the center’s facilities and manage inmate rehabilitation programs.
  • The contract is for seven years with the possibility of a five-year extension.
  • The Australian subsidiary is currently delivering other contracts with the Australian government.

Broadspectrum, a subsidiary of Ferrovial Services, acting in consortium 50% with MTC, has been chosen to deliver prison management services and security at the Parklea Correctional Centre in Australia. The seven-year contract, which has the option of a five-year extension, is worth AUD 90 million (over €57 million) annually.

The contract includes services such as transportation, facility maintenance and management, training and job-ready programs, and healthcare services, to be provided in partnership with St Vincent’s Healthcare. The consortium plans to provide skill-building workshops for inmates and to improve their employability, with a strong focus on inmate support.

The companies will also work with Corrective Services New South Wales (CSNSW), a division of the Australian Department of Justice, to manage a new maximum-security unit, sporting facilities and visitor centre for inmates and their families.

The contract comes into force on 1 April 2019. Until then, Broadspectrum and MTC will work closely with the current service provider and CSNSW to facilitate an orderly handover.
