1998: A record year in turnover, results and investment for the Ferrovial Group
The Ferrovial Group ended 1998 with a before tax profit of 21,050 million pesetas – 28.8% more than the previous year – and a 18.9% added increase in turnover, which rose to 407,901 million pesetas. The net profit attributed to the parent company was 14,201 million pesetas, as opposed to the 11,601 million in 1997, 22.4% more.
The portfolio of orders under construction exceeded 631,600 million pesetas at the year-end. Of that figure, 150,700 million – approximately 24% -, was for works abroad, mainly in Chile, Colombia, Italy, Tunisia and Morocco. The construction activity turnover of the Group abroad rose to 44,300 million pesetas in 1998, representing 12.36% on the aggregate construction activity total billing.
The Ferrovial Group made an important investment effort and undertook gross investment amounting to 107,000 million pesetas in 1998, a record figure in the companys history. It also generated an operating cash flow of 29,255 million pesetas, 20.14% more than in 1997. Shareholders funds of the Group reached 98,064 million pesetas.
