Ferrovial included in Dow Jones Sustainability Index for 10th consecutive year

Press releases

Ferrovial, which scored 81 points, is the leading Spanish company in its sector. The company improved in all three categories (economic, social and environmental). In 2002, it was the first Spanish infrastructure and services company to be included in this prestigious index, and its current score is 25 points above the sector average. Ferrovial has been included in the Dow Jones European and World Sustainability Indices (DJSI) for the tenth consecutive year. SAM (Sustainable Asset Management), which evaluates companies' approach to sustainability for the indices, awarded Ferrovial 81 points out of 100, i.e. 25 points above the sector average. Ferrovial's inclusion for the tenth consecutive year confirms the soundness of the company's sustainability strategy and recognizes the implementation of advanced practices in the three areas of corporate responsibility: economic, environmental and social. Juan Francisco Polo, Director of Communications and Corporate Social Responsibility at Ferrovial, said: "Being ranked for the last ten years as one of the world's top companies in terms of its long-term approach and commitment to sustainability is the result of hard work and a firm commitment to this area." The Dow Jones Sustainability Index is one of the leading global indices for evaluating companies' sustainability policies. Ferrovial's performance was rated as outstanding in three key areas: environmental policy, social reporting and supply chain management. The company obtained the highest score in its sector in the latter two areas. In the economic dimension, the company stood out for its risk management performance. The index also analyses aspects related to customer relationship management, privacy protection, corporate governance, codes of conduct and anti-corruption principles. In the environmental dimension, the company's score for its environmental policy and climate strategy far exceeded the sector average. As for the social dimension, Ferrovial received the highest score in its sector for social reporting and supply chain management. The company was first included in the DJSI in 2002, at which time it was the only Spanish company in its sector listed on the Index. Also in 2002, Ferrovial was one of the first Spanish companies to adhere to the Global Compact. The company continued to reinforce its Corporate Social Responsibility strategy and joined the prestigious FTSE4Good Index in 2005. In 2011, Ferrovial ranked 2nd in Fortune magazine's World's Most Admired Companies in the area of Corporate Social Responsibility.
