London 10 october 2006.- BAA’s UK airports handled a total of 13.6 million passengers in September, an increase of 0.6% on September 2005.
Of the major markets, European Scheduled traffic was up 5.1%, and other Long Haul grew 5.1%. European Charter fell 7.9%, and North Atlantic dipped 2.0%. Domestic and Irish Republic was down 4.9% and 3.4% respectively.
Of the individual airports, Stansted saw the largest growth at 5.6%. Gatwick was up 2.8%, and Southampton up 1.4%. Heathrows fell 2.4%. In Scotland, Edinburgh and Aberdeen saw growth of 1.8% and 5.2% respectively. Glasgow fell by 1.1%.
In total the number of air transport movements at BAA airports rose by 1.2% while cargo tonnage was down 2.5%.
