The Rzeszow regional office of the Polish Roads Agency has selected Budimex Dromex as the "best value proposal" for the design and implementation of 25 km of the A4 highway, which represents an investment of close to 234 million euros (969.2 million zlotys).
With the signature of this contract, the consortium will assume responsibility for the design and construction of the Rzeszow - Korczowa stretch of the A4, in the Southeast of the country. The deadline for completing the project will take effect within a month, and the project is expected to be finalized on 13 April 2012.
The A4 highway, which links Jaroslaw with Radymno, is the main route connecting Germany and southern Poland and creates a nexus for the movement of vehicles between western Europe and the Ukraine and southern Russia. Furthermore, Budimex Dromex will construct several roads in Warsaw.
The Investment Board of Urban Roads (ZMID) has selected the offer made by Budimex for the construction of the roads 17 Stycznia and Cybernetyki, for more than 15 million euros (63.06 million zlotys net). The construction work will be completed in a period of twelve months. In 2009, Budimex Dromex signed two major contracts.
In January, the consortium formed by Cintra, Budimex and Ferrovial Agroman signed an agreement to design, build, finance and operate the A1 Stryków I - Pyrzowice toll road, with an estimated investment of 2.1 billion euros. In addition, it was awarded the construction of another 16km stretch of the highway, for 350 million euros (1.5 billion zlotys).
Budimex has been a Polish subsidiary of Ferrovial's flagship construction company, Ferrovial Agroman, since 2000. Among its major contracts are the construction of two sections of the A2 motorway, the A6 in Kijewo, remodeling of two sections of the A4 highway and the bypass of the northern section of the Bytomska road.
