Ferrovial has been recognized as one of the world’s leading environmental companies by the prestigious organization CDP (formerly the “Carbon Disclosure Project”). For the 14th consecutive year, the company has once again topped the ranking of the companies most committed to combating climate change. It has also been included in the ‘A List’ for water management, becoming one of the best-performing companies in this area.
Ferrovial is one of the few companies to achieve the highest rating (A) in two categories, according to the assessment carried out by CDP in 2023. Only 0.3% of the 21,000 companies assessed have managed to achieve this dual score.
This distinction evidences the company’s transparency and efforts to reduce its carbon footprint and to mitigate the effects of climate change. It also recognizes the company’s commitment to the proper use of water in its operations so as to mitigate the planet’s water stress and avoid further contamination of this resource.
CDP is a global environmental non-profit organization, whose annual survey and assessment process is internationally recognized as the best standard for corporate environmental transparency. It uses a proprietary, independent methodology to evaluate companies on their responsibility, management of environmental risks, and leadership actions in this area.
Sustainability continues to be one of the main pillars of Ferrovial’s strategy. Further evidence of this is the fact that, for the 22nd consecutive year, it has been included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index as one of the most sustainable companies in its sector worldwide. It has also enhanced its roadmap with the presentation of the 2030 Sustainability Strategy, which is based on three core areas: environment, community and governance. It is also recognized by quality agency AENOR as being the first company in its industry to certify its Sustainability Strategy in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) promoted by the United Nations.
