- Ferrovial has been continuously included in the Global and European Indexes for 22 years thanks among others, to its commitment to human rights, its climate strategy, and its good labor practices
Madrid, 9/12/2023.- Ferrovial has been recognized once again as one of the world’s most sustainable companies in the Construction and Engineering sector by the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI). The Index, developed by S&P Global, is the most prestigious in the world in sustainability. This year, only three companies in the sector, including Ferrovial, have managed to enter this Global Index, while in the European Index only two have managed to do so.
This position reflects the company’s sound ESG performance — it has been included in the DJSI continuously for the last 22 years. Ferrovial has stood out for its policies to promote and defend human rights, for its commitment to environmental protection in the development of its activities, as well as for its efforts to create workplaces that contribute to employee well-being, promoting equal opportunities and fostering local talent.
A business model firmly committed to ESG values
Sustainability is a fundamental pillar of Ferrovial’s strategy. For this reason, it has reinforced its commitment in this area by presenting its Sustainability Strategy 2030 at its General Shareholders’ Meeting, which is based on three pillars: environment, community and governance, and is aligned with its business strategy, the Horizon 24 plan.
Inclusion in the index endorses the strategy implemented by Ferrovial and other listed companies in environmental, social, and good governance matters in order to help investors in their decision-making, as well as to strengthen the sustainable transition by business. Ferrovial’s efforts have also been recognized in other sustainability indexes such as FTSE4Good, CDP, ISS ESG, Moody’s, Sustainalytics and GRESB. Ferrovial was also the first company to achieve the AENOR certification for its sustainability strategy and its coherence with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
