Press releases

  • NTT DATA will create, in Spain, the world’s first Center of Excellence for innovation and development of technology solutions for infrastructure
  • The two partners will assess new business models in various fields such as data center construction and operation.

Ferrovial, a global infrastructure operator that originated in Spain, and NTT DATA, a Japanese technology consulting firm, have announced a strategic partnership to drive the digital transformation of the infrastructure and transportation sector globally.

The alliance combines the resources, experience and expertise of both companies in their respective areas of specialization. The objective is to promote innovative solutions that improve efficiency and sustainability while exploring new opportunities in order to lead the way at a global level by leveraging both partners’ services and products in various fields, such as the construction and operation of data centers. NTT DATA’s technology capabilities will accelerate the digitalization of Ferrovial in all its markets and will be applied to a diversified portfolio of projects, such as toll management systems on its toll roads. NTT DATA will act as Ferrovial’s technology partner, focusing on growth in North America.

Moreover, as part of the agreement, NTT DATA will also establish a Center of Excellence in Digital Solutions for infrastructures in Spain that will apply the most advanced digital solutions to address the sector’s current challenges.

The center will be instrumental in driving and co-developing Ferrovial’s global projects from Spain, allowing the development of innovative and sustainable solutions for asset management, improve business planning tools, and develop solutions for operating energy infrastructures. This work will rely on technologies linked to automation, generative artificial intelligence, and digital twins to jointly explore their application in potential markets.

“The creation of the first center of excellence of its kind in the world, here in Spain, hinges on combining the two groups’ complementary capabilities. From this unique initiative in Madrid, we will develop innovative solutions that will put us at the forefront of our industry”, said Ignacio Madridejos, CEO of Ferrovial.

It’s not just that Ferrovial will apply these solutions to improve its own process performance; the experience of using them in the company’s own projects will enable them to have an impact on the development of the broader industry by driving technological progress.

“The synergies with Ferrovial will enable us to leverage all our technological expertise in the infrastructure and transportation industry. With this agreement, we will drive the digital transformation of the industry and advance in terms of efficiency and sustainability,” said Sergi Biosca, CEO of NTT DATA Spain.

According to Noriyuki Kaya, Chief Digital Assets Officer at NTT DATA Inc., “this agreement is strategic for the NTT DATA Group because it is a tangible example of how we can combine the transversality of an international group and our end-to-end capabilities with Ferrovial’s solid commitment to innovation and digitalization as vectors of growth at a global level”.
