- The deal is a further step in the company's focus on innovation combined with the new architecture's cost-effectiveness.
- Hewlett-Packard will provide and manage Ferrovial's datacentre services from two sites, one in Spain and the other in the US.
- With this project, Ferrovial is defining a key component that will support its international expansion both flexibly and uniformly as it extends its concessions throughout the world.
Ferrovial has chosen Hewlett-Packard as its global supplier of IT infrastructure and services. The agreement includes replacing the current 18-datacentre network with two centres, in Spain and in the US; it also includes software and management and administration processes during a 10-year period.
The goals of the strategic agreement include upgrading the current system, deploying the latest technology, and centralising services management.
Some of the main characteristics required by Ferrovial include the necessary flexibility to support the growth of the international business, standardisation and centralisation of the platforms used with a view to improving usage cost efficiency, and a firm commitment to using technologies of the future, such as cloud computing.
A distinctive feature of the agreement is that all services will be managed from two datacentres, in Spain and the US, equipped with cutting-edge backup and security systems. This centralised management model will guarantee the delivery and management of services to the company's headquarters and remote locations, with information about costs and service times.
Ferrovial CEO Íñigo Meirás commented that "this strategic agreement will enable us to continue advancing in the technological process in which the company is immersed. Innovation is a source of competitiveness in the businesses and markets in which Ferrovial operates. A company like Ferrovial needs flexibility because of the diversity of our locations and our businesses' distinct requirements."
José Antonio de Paz, Chairman of HP Spain: "We are extremely please to collaborate on innovating and improving the competitiveness of a Spanish multinational with the global potential of Ferrovial. The experience of a global leader in IT transformation processes like HP, together with our talented team, will enable us to approach the technological and business challenges in this agreement from a position of assured success."
