Ferrovial wins the Antofagasta airport management tender in Chile

Through its subsidiary Cintra, Ferrovial has won the tender held by the Chilean government for the Concession of the Passenger Terminal of the Antofagasta “Cerro Moreno” Airport in the second Chilean region. Cintra will be the sole operator of the airport for the next ten years. The airport now has an annual traffic of 500,000 passengers, and is expected to reach 1.4 million passengers per year by the end of the concession term.

Investment of Pta 1.7 billion

During the concession term, the Antofagasta airport will require close to Pta 1.7 billion investments to prepare the existing facilities and buildings for a strong demand growth in the next years.

Cintra had to compete with four other consortia. Among them, the consortium led by Lan Chile current manager of the Chilean airports of Iquique and Calama and the consortium led by the Concepción Airport operator.

Gaining strength as airport operator

With this award, Ferrovial will operate ten airports, reinforcing its position as a worldwide airport operator. In the transport infrastructure concessions area, and through Cintra, the Group is also leader in private management of toll roads and car parks.
