Ferrovial to implement community outreach projects in six countries in 2018, benefiting 28,153 people.
Under the “Social Infrastructure” program, Ferrovial will participate in four projects:
-With Save the Children, it will upgrade drinking water and sanitation infrastructure at five schools in San Juan de Lurigancho, Lima (Peru).
-In cooperation with CIDEAL, water sources will be upgraded, and a reservoir and water treatment plant will be built in the Siete Vueltas district, in San Juan de Urabá, Colombia.
-Also in Colombia, with Action against Hunger, it will install a water treatment plant in San Benito, in the Santander department.
-With Manos Unidas, a gravity system will be built to provide access to water in the rural community of Lwangu, Njombe region, Tanzania.
In the framework of its social commitment in Spain, the company will upgrade and equip five meal centers and food stores for the Red Cross in the cities of Getafe, Aranjuez and Pinto (Madrid region), Puente Genil (Córdoba) and Totana (Murcia).
And four projects will be implemented under the “stronger together” program:
-With CODESPA, comprehensive support will be given to women and young people who are victims of sexual violence in areas of armed conflict in Goma and North Kivu, Democratic Republic of the Congo.
-With Ojos del Mundo, children in the Mopti region of Mali will be given eye tests. Glasses and technical equipment will be donated, and local residents will be trained.
-In Madrid, with the Menudos Corazones Foundation, a property will be refurbished to provide accommodation for families of children who are hospitalized because of congenital heart disease, intestinal failure or multi-visceral transplants.
-In Valencia, with the Angel Tomás Foundation, the Domingo Savio foodservice training center will be refurbished to train young people at risk of social exclusion.
These programs are part of “Plan 20.19”, which sets out the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy.
