Ferrovial, via Polish subsidiary Budimex, has been chosen by Gaz System to build a section of the Baltic Pipe, a 900-kilometer infrastructure that will transport gas between Norway, Denmark and Poland. The contract is worth 314.8 million zlotys, equivalent to about €70 million.
The work, part of a strategic project co-financed by the European Union, consists of building a 122-kilometer gas pipeline between the cities of Goleniów and Lwówek, both in northern Poland.
It includes rebuilding the Goleniów gas compression station and laying 1,400 meters of a pipeline under the Warta river using Direct Pipe technology, the longest drilling project of this type to be performed in Poland to date. The work is scheduled to be completed by November 2022.
This is the third contract of this type awarded to Ferrovial’s Polish subsidiary. In 2018, it completed the construction of a pipeline between the cities of Czeszów and Kiełczów, both in southern Poland. It is currently laying a gas pipeline between the town of Strachocina and the Slovakian border, a contract worth about €116 million.
