UITP (Union Internationale des Transports Publics) is the International Association of Public Transport with a strong focus on sustainable urban mobility.
Ferrovial’s Digital Hub Director Javier Lazaro spoke at their Brussels event about how Ferrovial is innovating in mobility and why it’s a key area of the company’s strategy.
The event, organized by the UITP, was based on a double session entitled ‘European Cities Leading Innovation for Urban Mobility’ and focused on how innovation in transport can address urban challenges facing European cities.
European cities are currently being confronted with a growing demand for a more integrated and sustainable urban transport system. The workshop set out to address how this can be achieved and Lazaro spoke about Ferrovial’s involvement in innovative solutions such as the carsharing service Zity and the launch of the mobility as a service application WONDO.
We have created innovative solutions such as our tolling payment app called Satelise, our car-sharing service Zity and others. We think innovation, together with the change of citizen behavior, is changing mobility in cities and we want to be proactive in this change.
Ferrovial’s Digital Hub Director continued by commenting that the mobility revolution needs a strong collaboration between administrations and private companies, and that all players in the ecosystem must work together to guarantee high quality, efficient and sustainable mobility for cities.
Also participating in the event were Rosalía Gonzalo, Minister of Transport, Housing and Infrastructure of the Regional Government of Madrid, Spain, who talked about how organizing authorities can support mobility innovation to help boost competitiveness and growth, Valentino Sevino, Director of Mobility Planning, Mobility, Environment and Territory Agency, City of Milan, Italy, and Jon Lamonte, Chief Executive Officer, Transport for Greater Manchester, UK.
