Talavera Vocational School employment

Ferrovial Services, together with Talavera de la Reina’s Municipal Government and the Bios Special Education Public School, has started a new chapter of the Vocational School in Talavera de la Reina.

Thanks to the joint effort between Ferrovial Services and these two entities, the 12 students at the Vocational School will receive specific training as road cleaning assistants, and they will go through a period of job shadowing at different Ferrovial Services contracts in Spain.

In total, the 12 students will complete 66.5 hours of classwork in theoretical training and 70 hours of internships that they will perform for different Ferrovial Services Spain contracts around Talavera de la Reina. During the first two weeks of the program, they will receive a theoretical introduction to road cleaning, and they will be trained in Workplace Injury Prevention or handling cargo and operating hose vehicles, among other topics. Afterwards, during the third and fourth weeks, students will have training sessions on excellence in service and addressing clients. They will have practice sessions in road cleaning, and they will receive training in the use and handling of gondolas. In this period, they will also have work orientation depending on each student’s profile. Through theoretical training, the students will do four weeks of internships as road cleaning assistants, along with their mentor.

Commitment to professional integration

The Vocational School is a program that was designed by Ferrovial Services in order to promote the employment opportunities of individuals in vulnerable situations in the communities where they work through technical training and employment. Developed in collaboration with businesses in the third sector and with company volunteers, the school has three objectives: to teach a vocation, to instill in students the need to respect safety measures at work, and to improve their employment opportunities. In total, more than 80 people in municipalities like Santurce (Vizcaya), Castro Urdiales (Cantabria), Zaragoza, San Sebastián, Madrid, and Coruña have benefited from the program.
