Íñigo Meirás, CEO of Ferrovial, has been named CEO of the Year 2014 by Forbes Spain. The CEO of the Year league table, drawn up by the editorial team based on reader votes, chooses from among the companies listed in the Ibex 35 and was published in the February 2015 issue of the magazine.
Meirás was chosen on the basis of such criteria as share performance during the year (Ferrovial has appreciated by close to 70% since 2011), dividend yield, business diversification, financial management, and operating revenue performance.
In an interview with Forbes Spain, Íñigo Meirás emphasised the company's appeal to shareholders. "They like the quality and capability of Ferrovial's people, who are our best asset".
Meirás concluded the interview by saying that "It's in Ferrovial's DNA to find a different way of doing things, cut costs and improve the quality of the end product. In short, we could say we have a business vision and our own management approach that have shaped many executives in the industry, and the company has also adapted skilfully to the economic cycle."
Íñigo Meirás joined Ferrovial in 1992 and held a number of positions of responsibility in the Toll Roads, Services and Airports division prior to his appointment as CEO in 2009.
