Torpol and Budimex to Modernize the Trzebinia – Krzeszowice section of the Railway Line

The consortium of Torpol (consortium leader) and Budimex (companies share: 50% each) signed the contract to modernize the Trzebinia – Krzeszowice section with PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. It is the last section of the Katowice – Kraków route, where works are to commence.

The contract with a net value of PLN 596.72 million includes modernization of the track sections and 2 railway stations: Trzebinia and Krzeszowice in terms of track arrangement, overhead contact line, tracks, including corrections of track geometry, telecommunications equipment and Railway Control Systems. In total, the reconstruction covers the section of ca. 17 km of double track railway line No 133 between km 29.110 and km 46.700.

The project covers reconstruction of 60 km of tracks, 110 turnouts, 10 platforms and 46 engineering structures, including reconstruction of the existing engineering structures, construction of enclosed structures for traffic operations, platforms, street furniture and environment protection structures. The entire project should be completed within 27 months from the works commencement date.

The Katowice — Kraków route is part of the E30 international corridor linking Germany, Poland and Ukraine. Thanks to the investment, which will be financed by the Connecting Europe EU program, in the future the top speed for passenger trains will be 160 km/h, and 120 km/h for cargo trains.
