Once again, Ferrovial Services will maintain our roads during the coldest winter months. This video shows the human and material resources used for winter maintenance.

Road Maintenance in Winter

A total of 160 snowploughs and more than 400 operators will ensure optimal safety, comfort and traffic flow in more than 50 mountain passes (ranging up to 1,821 metres in height) and on all roads where adverse weather hampers traffic, prioritising cases that require immediate action due to their importance. Those cases include hospitals, ambulance and fire-fighting depots, bus routes, important supply routes and heavily-transited highways.

Last winter more than 700 alerts were dealt with, and there were more than 140 call-outs. The largest snowdrift that had be cleared was 8.5 metres high, located in the Belagua mountain pass in 2014.

The company provides winter maintenance on a total of more than 1,000 kilometres of roads under 19 contracts in the provinces of Badajoz, Burgos, Guipúzcoa, Huelva, Huesca, Madrid, Málaga, Navarra, Salamanca, Segovia, Valencia, Valladolid and Zaragoza.
