Easternwell, the Australian subsidiary of Broadspectrum, has received the silver award from the Queensland State Government’s Healthier. Happier scheme. The company’s ‘Live Well’ programme has been recognised for its positive impact on health and well-being in the workplace.
The programme is designed to support and incentivise staff to choose healthy lifestyles, such as a balanced diet, increased physical activity, not smoking, reducing alcohol consumption and maintaining good mental health. ‘Live Well’ is managed by a qualified dietitian and internal well-being coordinator responsible for implementing effective health and well-being plans for staff.
One of the programme’s initiatives is a 24-hour helpdesk to provide support to staff and families with personal or work-related problems affecting their quality of life, wellbeing or safety. Another initiative is a 12-week plan to stop smoking.
In addition to these two examples, the programme includes access to nearby gyms, availability of fresh fruit in the office, access to medical and skin checks, a newsletter with information on healthy lifestyle habits and trends, and access to the wellness corner in Easternwell’s offices in Toowoomba. Through the ‘Live Well’ programme, Easternwell aims to improve the health and wellbeing of its employees.
