Ferrovial Serviços, the Portuguese subsidiary of Ferrovial Services, has been awarded the contract for the provision of cleaning and waste management services in the town of Ermesinde for the coming four years. The services listed in the agreement include manual and mechanical sweeping, the cleaning and unblocking of sewers, grass cutting, herbicide application and the cleaning and emptying of rubbish bins.
The contract will provide direct employment for seven Ferrovial employees, who will oversee the cleaning of more than 100 km of thoroughfare.
Ermesinde is a parish in the municipality of Valongo, in the north of Portugal. Over the past 10 years it has experienced significant population growth, to the point where it is now the most populated parish in the municipality, with roughly 39,000 inhabitants.
This growth, coupled with the construction of new, modernised infrastructures, has contributed to an improvement in the quality of life in the town. With this contract, Ferrovial Serviços affirms its commitment to working towards a cleaner town while meeting all the conditions required by the customer.
Recent contracts for Ferrovial Serviços
Ferrovial Serviços was recently awarded the tender for street cleaning and solid waste collection in the municipality of Tarouca, in Portugal. The concession is for three years and covers the collection of solid urban waste in the town of Tarouca and its surrounding parishes, the cleaning of containers and rubbish bins, manual and mechanical street scanning, verge and ditch cleaning and chemical weeding.
In addition to this agreement, Ferrovial Serviços has also been awarded the public tender for the provision of cleaning, sanitisation and waste management services in the fishing port of Matosinhos – Docapesca for the next three years.
