The team for the North Tarrant Express I-35W brought home the award for Best Project of 2019 from the magazine Engineering News-Record Texas & Louisiana last October in the category for Best Highway/Bridge 2019.
Among the team members who attended the event were Korey D. Coburn, P.E., TxDOT Project Manager; Francisco Manuel Galdeano, COO for the NTE 35W; Robert Hinkle, Cintra & North Texas Corporate Affairs; Heather DeLapp, National Sr. PR Manager for Ferrovial Agroman US; Kyle Freeman, Safety Manager for NTI; and Justin Benge, NTI Construction Manager.
The local projects that were awarded are automatically entered into the national competition for ENR’s “Best of the Best 2019” Award.
This is the second award that the North Tarrant Express 35W project has won since it opened in July 2018. Last April, the project received the JLT Build America Award in the Design-Build Civil category from the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC).
The first two phases of the NTE 35W project are in operation and have surpassed all predictions for managing and reducing traffic. The third phase of the NTE 35W (the 3C stretch) has been approved and design is underway. Construction on it will begin in 2020.
