Silvertown project has been recognized with the EMEA Road Deal of the Year 2019 from Proximo platform, a new space specialized in energy, infrastructure and project finance.
The Proximo awards prize for the second year for the most innovative, market influencing transactions within project financing. The award ceremony was held on May 13th during the Proximo Europe 2020 virtual event: Renewable Energy Infrastructure and Finance, attended by Silvertown CEO, John Hagan.
“Winning this award is a tremendous honor and it was my privilege to accept it on behalf of the project sponsors and everyone else responsible for making the Silvertown Tunnel a reality. This serves to demonstrate that the project has assembled an excellent team of local and international experts to finance, deliver, and operate it for the next 30 years”
“Although we are still in the early days of delivery of the Silvertown Tunnel, the incredible collaboration throughout the lengthy bidding process and the innovation that was made possible as a result, is testament to the value Ferrovial can bring to clients. We expect this success to continue as we work to bring the project to life, reducing congestion and improving the reliability and resilience of East London's transport networks”
The Silvertown project is the first major road investment in the east part of London in 30 years. The design of the tunnel includes a 1.4-kilometre twin-bore road tunnel under the River Thames as well as 0.6-kilometres of access ramps. It will connect south of the River Thames with the access to the existing Blackwall Tunnel and north of the River Thames with the Tidal Basin Roundabout, in Silvertown, easing traffic congestion in this key London location.
