LBJ and NTE hosted their third annual LBJ & NTE TEXpress Lanes Food ‘DRIVES’.
Each year, LBJ and NTE partner with the food banks and select a specific Saturday in November in which the proceeds from each toll transaction up to $15,000 will benefit each corridor’s local food bank. In total, $30,000 is raised each year between the LBJ & NTE TEXpress Lanes. LBJ and NTE support this initiative because there are many who go hungry even during the holiday season.
This year, the LBJ & NTE TEXpress Lanes Food DRIVES took place on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018, from 12:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. To participate, the public was invited to drive on either one of the managed lanes projects – the LBJ TEXpress Lanes situated along I-635 or the NTE TEXpress Lanes located in Northeast Tarrant County on Northeast Loop 820 and SH-121/183 Airport Freeway and on I-35W.
After the event, each of the $15,000 donations was presented to the food banks in person. Each dollar donated to the North Texas Food Bank and Tarrant Area Food Banks provides meals to hungry North Texans. For the past three years, LBJ and NTE have raised and donated $90,000 to the regional food banks and helped provide more than 360,000 meals to those in need. The initiative is making an impact on communities in the region and helping DRIVE out hunger in North Texas.
