Webber was the recipient of two out of the four awards for the “We Build Texas” category at the 2023 Texas Transportation Forum – one for the U.S. 281 project and one for the Waco IH 35 project.
The Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) and the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) created the “We Build Texas” awards to recognize their employees and the contractors who work together to produce excellent projects through difficult circumstances. These awards highlight the need to create quality partnerships, useful techniques, positive contract relationships and good practices.
U.S. 281, which was completed in 2021, received this award due to the community partnerships that played a key role in the completion of the project. Working together with TxDOT, Webber was able to increase connectivity, enhance safety and reduce congestion by constructing multi-lane frontage roads, four direct connector bridges and reconstruct the U.S. 281 main lanes to include overpass bridges at intersecting streets. This project has made a significant impact to the surrounding community by addressing congestion and providing relief for the traveling public.
The second award Webber received was for the Waco IH 35 project. This project reached substantial completion five months ahead of schedule because of the effective teamwork and exceptional project management that oversaw the four-year project. Construction for IH 35 included rebuilding six miles of I-35 from Craven Road to 12th Street, a section that crosses over the Brazos River. Other works included the construction of 22 bridges, the removal of the existing concrete main lanes in both directions and the reconstruction of the existing concrete frontage roads.
Congratulations to those who worked on these projects!
