Amey, a Ferrovial Services subsidiary and one of the UK’s leading public and regulated services providers, has successfully secured a new metering contract with npower worth £35m (almost 44 m€) over the next five years. The win will see Amey providing both gas and electricity metering installation and maintenance services for npower across the North West of England, Wales and Scotland.
Amey began providing electricity metering services for npower in the North West in 1996. This contract award further increases Amey’s geographical coverage and will include new smart metering installations.
Mel Ewell, Chief Executive of Amey said: “I’m delighted that npower has chosen Amey to deliver its new smart metering services. We have worked together for almost 20 years and look forward to drawing on the expertise we have built up over that time, to ensure an efficient and reliable roll out for npower’s customers.”
Through the company’s National Skill Academy for Power (NSAP) training centre Amey is placing 80 employees through its training course. This will not only up skill and train employees in both gas and electricity smart meter installations, but will provide the opportunity for further career development.
Simon Stacey, Managing Director of Energy Services at npower added: “The metering market is very dynamic with a lot of change coming up in the next few years through the national roll-out of smart meters. It is important that we know our customers are in safe and professional hands and Amey has a proven track record of delivering safe, efficient and reliable services.”
