Amey, a leading support services company, today announced three new contracts worth in excess of £750 million (1 billion Euros). The three separate contracts include:
    • Home Office - The Home Office have informed Amey that it has been awarded provisional preferred bidder status to carry out property services on sites supporting the Home Office and Ministry of Justice. The contract spans five years, with a possible two-year extension. The contract will involve cleaning & housekeeping; mechanical & electrical maintenance; grounds maintenance; catering & hospitality; waste management; reception management; portering; security; energy management; minor and project works management (including space management/churn). Amey will carry out the work in London, the South East and Anglia.
 
    • Hampshire Highways - Hampshire County Council has awarded its new term highways contract to Amey. The contract involves undertaking the delivery of highway maintenance services for all county roads on behalf of the County Council from 1 May. The new contract builds on experiences from the existing highway term maintenance contract and other similar local authority contracts to improve service delivery, concentrating particularly on enhanced customer focus, active management of performance and close integration of Amey with the County Councils corporate priorities. Amey won the contract against competition from five other contractors.The new contract offers significant opportunities for enhancing the highway service in Hampshire through improved communications, performance and efficiency. The County Councils Executive Member for Environment, Cllr Mel Kendal, said: We anticipate that the new contract will offer opportunities for a range of service improvements and efficiencies, and were looking forward to developing a strong and productive working relationship with Amey.
 
  • Hertfordshire Highways - a 3 year extension to the existing Hertfordshire Highways contract - until 2012 - has been announced. Hertfordshire Highways is a joint venture between AmeyLafarge and Mouchel. Herts Highways was set up in 2002 and built into the contract was the option to extend from 2009 until 2012.Amey will continue with their involvement in road repairs and potholes as well as major projects including the a multi-million pound scheme in St Peters Street. Cllr Stuart Pile, executive member for highways, transport and rural affairs said of the decision to award the contract extension "When we first set up Herts Highways our aim was to make the service as efficient, cost-effective and user-friendly as possible and those same aims have governed the decision to extend the contracts." He added "A lot of work has been going on to improve the service and by extending the contracts we can build on that work.
