Amey, as part of a 50% joint venture, has obtained a 10-year contract award on behalf of the UK Ministry of Justice worth £632 million (equivalent to €725 million).

Under the agreement, GEOAmey will transport about 250,000 people per year between courts and prisons in Wales, the Midlands and northern England. The company will employ more than 1,400 people in the service, which also includes carrying out transfers between prisons, managing court custody suites and docks.

GEOAmey has a strong track record as a leading provider of custodial and prisoner escort services in England and Wales, as it has been delivering services of this type for the UK Ministry of Justice since 2011. Amey also has extensive experience in delivering infrastructure services in the United Kingdom. The consortium involving this Ferrovial subsidiary is the leading provider of court custody and prisoner escort services in the UK since it began operations for the Scottish Prison Service and Criminal Justice Partners in January 2019.
