Australia's Workplace Gender Equality
Ferrovial Services' Australian subsidiary was certified by the Workplace Gender Equality Agency ( WGEA) to be in compliance with the equality requirements for the year 2017-2018. Broadspectrum's inclusion and diversity initiatives have increased the female participation rate to over 30%, which places the company 5-10 points over the industry average. Grant Kerswell, Broadspectrum's Director of Human Resources, expressed his satisfaction with this results: "We recognise the importance of diversity to our organisation. One key focus area for us has been to improve the gender-balance of our workforce, and make efforts to increase the female participation across all our industries.  For instance, our #SpectrumGrad program has successfully attracted a 50/50 gender mix across all disciplines, and we’re extending these efforts at all levels of our organisation.” The approval came after the late-May submission of the annual WGEA questionnaire and workplace profile. All non-public sector employers with 100 or more employees are required to report annually to the WGEA. Reporting is based on a set of standardised gender equality indicators (GEIs), which include gender composition of the workforce and governing bodies, equal remuneration between women and men, access to employee benefits and flexible working arrangements, and prevention and elimination of sex-based harassment and discrimination.
