The commemoration of International LGBTI Pride Day on June 28 aims to promote equality and dignity of people belonging to this collective. This date commemorates the Stonewall Riots (New York, USA) in 1969, which marked the beginning of the LGBTI rights movement in the United States and around the world. Nowadays, the celebration is commonly held with “pride marches” usually accompanied by social demands.
Although statistics in this area are limited due to the stigma that still surrounds this community: according to the Ipsos study -which collects information from 27 countries-, it is estimated that 9-10% of the population belongs to the LGBT community.
At Ferrovial, we work to promote a diverse and inclusive company, which is why we have renewed our commitment to REDI (Business Network for LGBTI Diversity and Inclusion), the first company network in Spain of businesses and professionals for LGBTI Diversity and Inclusion, whose objective is to promote an inclusive and respectful environment in organizations, where talent is valued regardless of its identity, gender expression and sexual orientation.
