Ferroser to perform the street cleaning and solid urban waste collection in Huelva

Ferrovial Servicios (Ferroser), a company in the Ferrovial Group specialised in all kinds of public services managed under private initiative, has been awarded the concession for street cleaning and solid urban waste collection in the City of Huelva. The contract amounts to 8,000 million pesetas and the concession term is eight years, that may be extended for a further eight, with an additional amount of 8,000 million pesetas.

The Ferroser bid was a technical improvement on the rest presented, among which there was FCC that has managed this service in the City of Huelva over the last ten years, Cepsa (Grupo Aguas de Barcelona) and Onix (Grupo Vivendi). In fact, Ferroser will invest more than 500 million pesetas in 38 new vehicles with the most advanced technology in acoustic and atmospheric contamination.

Strategy backing

This contract backs the business strategy of Ferroser in the area of urban services and reinforces the presence of the firm in the province, where it manages the concession for street cleaning and solid urban waste collection for another thirty eight municipalities, among them the Counties of Cuenca Minera and Sierra Occidental.

In the field of street cleaning and solid urban waste collection, Ferroser holds the concession for more than 60 municipalities - among them Corunna, Baracaldo, Basauri, Nijar, Hellín, etc. - and serves a population of nearly one million inhabitants. Ferroser, which has already begun its expansion abroad by opening a branch in Portugal, will reach a turnover of 5,000 million pesetas in 1998, and its portfolio pending completion already exceeds 75,000 million pesetas.
