Ferrovial positions itself in an expanding business, where large investments are foreseen
Ferrovial has acquired 100% of Grupisa, one of the leading Spanish companies in the highway maintenance sector, which specializes in integral road conservation and the manufacture and installation of horizontal and vertical signposting.
With this operation, which represents an investment of Euros 19.8 million (Ptas 3.3 billion), Ferrovial positions itself in an expanding market with good growth prospects, where large investments in the conservation and maintenance of the present highway network are foreseen.
The acquisition implies that Ferrovial increases its specialization and technology in the highway segment and provides an all-round response to forthcoming conservation tenders, which range from preventive action to minor civil works, improvements in the course of roads, environmental aspects, general improvements, signposting, etc.
Grupisa: maintenance of over 2,000 km of road
Grupisa, founded in 1975, comprises a group of companies that specialize in the integral conservation of highways (civil works, treatment of surfaces and environmental elements, the maintenance of infrastructure and installations, road safety elements), the production and installation of horizontal and vertical signposting on roads and at airports and the management of traffic.
Grupisa conducts integral maintenance of over 2,000 km of roads and highways in Spain and, amongst its contracts are the conservation of the N-I, N-II and N-V, M-30, M-40 and the A-92. Grupisas consolidated sales revenues amounted to Euros 73.7 million in 1999 (Ptas 10.6 billion) and the group employs 1,000 people.
Grupisa is present throughout Spain and has exported its business to markets such as Great Britain and Greece. It also has a stable franchise in Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Morocco. Grupisa is backed by the AENOR certificate and it owns over 800 heavy machines and vehicles and 1,000 light machines and vehicles.
