Madrid, 30 October 2009.- A consortium formed by Budimex Dromex and Ferrovial Agroman has signed a contract with the Rzeszow regional office of the Polish Roads and Highways Agency for the design and construction of a 25 km stretch of the A4 highway in southern Poland. The contract amounts to 794.4 million zlotys (c.189 million euros). The A4 traverses 670 km through Poland, from the town of Zgorzelec to the border with Ukraine (Korczowa-Krakowiec). The entire route forms part of the international E40 highway, and is forecast for completion by April 2012. The consortium led by Budimex Dromex will build a 25 km stretch between Jaroslaw and Radymno, in addition to an intersection at Radymno. The construction will be developed in line with typical toll road parameters. The A4 highway is an important communication route linking the country's main highways. At the Krzyzowa intersection, it joins the A18 highway, which leads to the former border crossing with Germany; at the Nowa Wies intersection, it crosses the Wroclaw bypass, which is currently under construction; and close to Sosnica, the road joins with the A1 (Gdansk-Gorzyczki). The project scope covers both the design and construction of this stretch of highway. The work will include building two carriageways, each of two lanes of traffic, toll areas, maintenance and service areas, overpasses, service roads and other works related to drainage, environmental protection and traffic safety. Furthermore, Budimex will be responsible for designing and constructing channels for telecommunication cables along the highway. The construction work begins the day the contract was signed. Budimex has been a subsidiary of Ferrovial Agroman in Poland since 2000. In 2009, Budimex Dromex signed two major contracts. In January, the consortium formed by Cintra, Budimex and Ferrovial Agroman signed an agreement to design, build, finance and operate the A1 Stryków I - Pyrzowice toll road, with an estimated investment of 2.1 billion euros. In addition, it was awarded the construction of another 16km stretch of the highway, for c.350 million euros.
