After a thorough audit process carried out by BRE Global, Ferrovial Agroman Chile became the first construction company to obtain BIM certification under the new ISO 19650 on November 18th.

Ferrovial Agroman Chile is holding steady in its firm commitment to implementing BIM in both Building and Infrastructure projects. It is also maintaining its position as a leader by becoming the first construction company to obtain BIM certification under the new ISO 19650 in the country.

Though it is not a requirement across the country, since the standard was published in January 2019, management at Ferrovial Agroman Chile set the goal of achieving this certification. This decision led to a thorough audit process carried out by BRE Global (Building Research Establishment), a prestigious organization based in the UK. BRE Global established a strategic alliance with the CTEC (Centro Tecnológico para la Innovación de Chile) to facilitate certification for companies operating in Chile. That way, not only is certification under ISO international standards secured, but it is also ensured that the regulation makes sense in the local context and standards.

While other geographical areas in Ferrovial Agroman have obtained this certification under the old PAS 1192-2 standard, it was the FA Chile team, working with the Department of Innovation and Digital Transformation, that was the first to update its BIM procedures, adapting them to the new standard. It is thus also the first geographical area to obtain certification in the Ferrovial “universe.”

According to Joaquin Torres Feced, Director of Ferrovial Agroman Chile,

“The goal is not to obtain just another certification. With this audit process, we’re seeking to be consistent in the way we implement BIM and, ultimately, to guarantee our customers efficient information management in our projects from start to finish. That undoubtedly translates into higher quality in those projects at all stages of the construction process”
