Ferrovial-Agromán Internacional contracts works amounting to 4,000 million pesetas
Ferrovial-Agromán Internacional (F&A) was awarded the project to extend the Nazzano Tunnel - through Rome on the Milan to Naples toll motorway. The contract amounts to 3,300 million pesetas and the works that will be carried out over the next 26 months consist of conversion to four lanes in the existing tunnel, with two parallel twin arms 300 m. long. The project includes an innovative construction project, applied for the first time in Italy, using a mobile metal shield that will allow execution of the tunnels without interrupting the motorway traffic.
The second project Ferrovial-Agromán Internacional will begin in the coming months, for an amount of 600 million pesetas, to build a dock on one of the accesses to the Port of Venice, one of the most busy in the country.
Both the works are included in the improvement investment policy the Italian government has designed for the countrys infrastructures due to the year 2000 Jubilee. In the case of the motorway network, the investment is aimed at increasing the road network capacity, as well as improvement, from the safety point of view, of route layouts with a great number of black spots; and in port infrastructures Italy is undertaking an ambitious investment schedule to refurbish and improve the main ports in the country.
