Ferrovial-Agromán Internacional will construct the Casablanca-Settat Highway in Morocco for Pta 8.5 billion Ferrovial-Agromán Internacional will construct the 60 kilometers of toll highway connecting Casablanca with the city of Settat, in Morocco. The project totals Pta 8.5 billion and has a term of delivery of 30 months. Ferrovial-Agromán Internacional will start construction this spring. When the highway is finished, the communications between the center and the east of the country will be enhanced, because it will connect Casablanca main economic center of the country with Settat, an expanding industrial area. The construction of the future highway will be financed with funds from Kuwait and Japan and its operation will be carried out by the National Highway Company of Morocco. The Casablanca-Settat Highway project, which will also connect the Mohamed V International Airport, is the main infrastructure project undertaken this year in the country. In the future, with a second highway stretch already planned, the road will extend to the city of Marrakech. Experience in the region In recent years, Ferrovial-Agromán Internacional has consolidated its presence in the Maghribian region. At present, it is developing five projects in Tunisia totaling Pta 30 billion, among them the construction of the Olympic Stadium which will house the next Mediterranean Games in 2001. In addition, with this last contract, F&A unquestionably penetrates in Morocco and increases its works backlog to more than Pta 110 billion.
