Ferrovial has been recognized in the 4th edition of the Global Best Projects Awards within the Global Best Road / Highway category for its  LBJ Express project. These prizes, awarded by the prestigious publication  Engineering News-Record (ENR), recognize the best projects of the past year based upon design and construction efforts. The judges have examined projects from all over the world, taking into account performance of material in terms of safety and innovation, as well as design quality and  construction, with special emphasis, moreover, on the diversity of the teams involved and how well they’ve worked together. It’s also considered how much the Project benefits the local community and /or the construction industry. The awards will be presented on 11th November in New York during the holding of the  Global Construction Summit, which brings together construction industry experts to help attendees build up their businesses and compete at an international level.

The LBJ Express Highway

Cintra, a Ferrovial subsidiary, heads up the consortium which will operate this urban highway concession of 21.3 km, which bypasses the north of Dallas via the IH-635 between the US-75 and the IH-35E and a section of the interstate I-35E. The construction, which started in 2011 and has been handled by  Ferrovial Agroman and Webber, has been carried out keeping the thoroughfare open to traffic while widening and improving the existing lanes, moving on to the service roads and building new dynamic toll lanes (managed lanes) throughout the highway’s entire length.
