Ferrovial increases its participation in Sydney Airport

Madrid. 21 July 2003. Ferrovial has reinforced its position in Sydney Airport (Australia) by acquiring an additional 1.08% (108,815 shares) of the airport concession company for 18.06 million Australian dollars (10.54 million euros). Ferrovial now owns 20.68% of the airport.

Sydney Airport: 19% growth in EBITDA on 10.5% growth in revenues
On 25 June 2002, Ferrovial (as part of a consortium) acquired a 95-year concession on Sydney Airport, Australia´s largest airport, which handles 24 million passengers per year. The operationthe world´s largest ever airport privatisationcost a total of 3,850 million euros (Ferrovial paid 233 million euros for 19.60%).

According to figures released today, Sydney airport obtained 501.8 million Australian dollars in FY2002/03, 10.5% more than in the previous year. EBITDA increased by 19% to 376.3 million Australian dollars.

These results are in line with the business plan designed by the airport´s shareholders despite the events of the last year (war in Iraq, SARS, Bali bombing, etc.).

Located 8 km south of Sydney, the airport has three runways, three passenger terminals, six cargo terminals and six car parks with space for 8,652 vehicles. It is the main gateway to Australia and handles 50% of the country´s international traffic.

13 airports and over 300 million euros in committed investment
Since it entered the airport business, Ferrovial has established itself as one of the world´s leading private sector airport managers because of both its total investment (over 300 million euros) and its sound, diversified portfolio of concessions.

Ferrovial currently has a managing stake in 13 airports which handle over 41 million passengers per year. The largest of them are Sydney, Bristol (Ferrovial owns the largest airport in south-west England, in partnership with Macquarie) and Belfast City.
