Ferrovial received a mention in the last edition of the Agustín de Betancourt Public Works International Award as a recognition for the Carrera 80 project. This construction, located in Cuenca de la Quebrada de la Iguaná (Colombia), has been carried out by Ferrovial Agroman (60%) and Constructora Colpatria. The award was collected by Ángel Luis Sánchez Gil, Director of Construction at Ferrovial Agroman. Carrera 80 was inaugurated in 2015 and is part of a series of transportation projects that connect Medellín with the Atlantic coast, and which have focused on the transformation of the Cuenca de la Quebrada del Iguaná. Works started in 2013 and consisted in carrying out a double road which expands from the Carrera 80 interchange. It starts at the city of Medellín towards the West, reducing the time needed to travel between the main cities of the area (Departamento de Antioquía). Thanks to the improvement in road communications, this work also serves as a transformation tool for the whole city sector located in the Cuenca Quebrada de la Iguaná, a marginal zone characterized by exclusion and social inequity, at the same time that it reduces the emission of vehicular toxic gasses from previous traffic jams. Through this video you can have an aerial view of Carrera 80 and find out more about its different sections.
