Ferrovial was the winner in the Instagram category at the recent Dia de Internet (Internet Day) awards. These awards recognize those initiatives, individuals and organizations that have excelled during the past year through the delivery, promotion, or facilitation of innovative uses of the Internet and new technologies within their respective categories. The finalists were voted by anonymous users through the website www.diadeinternet.org/2016 then the winners selected by a jury of digital experts. This win followed Ferrovial’s highly successful Urban Peek campaign which received over 3500 photo entries across 2 weeks. To date 4775 images have been shared with this unique hashtag.
The Internet Day 2016 awards ceremony took place at the Telefonica Foundation space (Espacio Telefonica) in central Madrid and was attended by Francisco Polo, Ferrovial’s Director of Communications and Astrit Fernandez, Manager of Digital Communications, who received the award along with her team Jose Luis Garcia Guaita, Arantxa Gulias Valverde and Bethany Ashcroft.
Alongside Ferrovial some other 2016 Dia del Internet winners included @mhemeroteca who was awarded best Twitter profile, Wallapop, best mobile application, and Unicef, the best social action website. For the first time the Dia del Internet organizers asked that the words of thanks were reduced to the 140 characters in a tweet, a novelty that led to some highly amusing hashtags and other words of gratitude.
Ferrovial also received a prize last year at the 2015 Internet Day awards for the LinkedIn profile. You can read more about this here.
